Russian forces attack Zaporizhzhia with aerial bombs and MLRS
On the morning of April 9, Russian forces carried out a massive shelling of Zaporizhzhia and surrounding areas, resulting in casualties and significant destruction.
The attack was reported by the head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, on his official Telegram channel.
One person was killed as a result of the strike, while the number of injured continues to rise. According to Fedorov, the shelling of the Zaporizhzhia district began early in the morning.
Russian forces used guided aerial bombs and multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) to strike civilian targets. Several powerful explosions were reported in the regional center, followed by thick smoke rising over the city.
The private sector in the Balabyne settlement suffered serious damage. Several residential buildings were destroyed, leaving people trapped under the rubble.
The first person hospitalized was a woman who received urgent medical assistance on-site. Later, the number of casualties increased as more reports from the impact sites were clarified.
As of 7:40 a.m., the regional governor confirmed the severe consequences of the attack.
Earlier, Russian forces also attacked the Dnipropetrovsk region.
In addition, a drone strike on Zaporizhzhia resulted in one person injured and damage to a State Emergency Service vehicle.
