Russian attacks have left consumers without power in five regions of Ukraine
As of the morning of September 9, Russian attacks have caused new power outages in five regions of Ukraine: Sumy, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, and Kyiv.
According to energy officials, these new emergency power outages were caused by Russian attacks using strike drones and artillery shelling.
“As a result of Russian drone attacks and artillery shelling, there are new power outages as of this morning in the Sumy, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, and Kyiv regions. Restoration work is already underway wherever safety conditions currently permit,” the Ukrenergo statement said.
Thus, emergency crews are already working to restore power, but the pace of repairs depends on the security situation.
As of 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, electricity consumption was 1.7% higher than the previous day.
Ukrenergo advises Ukrainians to distribute the load on the power grid more efficiently.
In particular, they recommend shifting heavy electricity use to the period between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., when industrial solar power plants operate most efficiently.
In the evening hours, when the load on the power grid traditionally increases, consumers are asked to conserve energy.
From 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Ukrainians are urged to limit their use of high-power electrical appliances.
