Russian Drones Destroy Lyceum in Chernihiv Region, School Buses Damaged
Late on March 18, Russian forces carried out a drone attack using “Geran” loitering munitions in Ukraine’s Chernihiv region. As a result of the strike, the Avdiivka Lyceum in the Ponornytsia community was destroyed, and school buses were also damaged.
This was reported on Telegram by the head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, Viacheslav Chaus.
“Late in the evening, Russian forces destroyed the Avdiivka Lyceum in the Ponornytsia community with three ‘Geran’ drones. The facility was destroyed, along with school buses,” he said.
According to the statement, students had been attending classes in person and only recently switched to a mixed format due to frequent air raid alerts. The school had undergone recent renovations and featured a fully modernized cafeteria.
Koriukivka district
In the Mena community, a repeated strike on transport infrastructure was reported yesterday.
Nizhyn district
An emergency medical facility was damaged as a result of the latest shelling.
“Over the past 24 hours, there were 25 strikes in the Chernihiv region and 31 explosions,” the regional administration added.



On the front line, 101 combat engagements were recorded over the past day, with the heaviest fighting reported in the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka sectors.
Earlier, on March 16 and overnight into March 17, Ukraine’s Defense Forces carried out a series of strikes on key Russian military targets, including an air defense system, an area where a Bastion coastal missile system was concentrated, a communications hub, and military logistics facilities.
Ukrainian forces also struck drone depots and enemy bases in three regions.
Total Russian military losses in the war against Ukraine since February 24, 2022, are estimated at approximately 1,277,620 personnel. Over the past day alone, Ukrainian forces reportedly eliminated another 860 troops.
