Russian propagandists invent “UAF Counteroffensive” to cover their own failures
Russian military bloggers and propagandists have started actively spreading reports of an alleged large-scale “counteroffensive” by Ukrainian forces in Zaporizhzhia.
Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) believe this information campaign aims to justify the occupiers’ withdrawal from forward positions.
According to the ISW report, Russian “war correspondents” are trying to use claims of Ukrainian activity as a pretext for pulling back their troops. Previously, the occupation command systematically exaggerated its own successes near Oleksandrivka and Huliaipole, providing leadership with inaccurate reports about their advances.
One of the main propaganda narratives involves alleged Ukrainian attacks in heavy fog near Sosnivka and Nechaivka. Russian war correspondents claim that Ukrainian forces are taking advantage of Starlink terminal shutdowns for Russian units to secretly advance in eastern Zaporizhzhia region.
Russian occupiers have partial advances on three sectors in Donetsk region.
Near Pokrovsk, occupiers fired on civilians and then abandoned their positions.
