Russian Su-34 produced with the help of companies avoiding Western sanctions
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has released information about the production network behind the Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber.
It was revealed that nearly a third of the enterprises involved in producing this lethal aircraft have so far escaped Western sanctions.
The Su-34 is a key instrument for the Russian military in carrying out airstrikes on Ukrainian cities and Defence Forces positions. It serves as the primary platform for guided aerial bombs (KABs) equipped with planning and correction modules.
These munitions allow the enemy to strike ground targets at significant depth while remaining beyond the reach of many air defence systems. The use of UMPK and UMPB systems has made the Su-34 a major threat to both the tactical and operational stability of the front.
Ukrainian intelligence has identified 79 enterprises that support the lifecycle and production of these aircraft. However, the international sanctions coalition currently ignores a substantial portion of this network, allowing Russia to continue producing new aircraft.
Among the companies avoiding restrictions are key players in the defence sector:
AT “Navigator” continues to manufacture onboard navigation systems without interference, which are critical for the aircraft’s precision in reaching targets.
AT “Kotlin-Novator” specialises in the repair and maintenance of antennas for onboard radar stations. Without a functioning radar, the Su-34 loses its advantages as a multifunctional combat unit.
LLC “TD VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation” supplies titanium alloys necessary for the aircraft’s structural strength. It remains unsanctioned by many countries, providing the Russian aviation industry with scarce raw materials.
AT “OKB Zenit” is responsible for onboard power systems. The aircraft’s electronics rely on components from this manufacturer, which has not yet faced pressure from the international community.
It is worth recalling that President Volodymyr Zelensky approved sanctions against those involved in the production of “Oreshnik” and “Shahed” missiles. The United States has also introduced new sanctions against Russians for the theft of commercial secrets.
