The SBU has charged the commander of a Kadyrovite company who fought against Ukraine
The Security Service of Ukraine, in conjunction with the prosecutor’s office, has formally charged in absentia the commander of the strike drone company of the Russian special forces unit “Akhmat.”
According to the investigation, the suspect is a native of the Dnipropetrovsk region. Before 2014, he moved to the Donetsk region, where, following the occupation of the area, he joined Russian-controlled illegal armed groups and fought against Ukrainian forces.
After the full-scale invasion began, the man enlisted in the Russian Ministry of Defense and was later assigned to the Akhmat regiment. He was assigned to the Aid unit, after which he was appointed commander of a strike UAV company and deployed to the Kursk region.
In December 2025, according to the SBU, the suspect’s subordinates attacked positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Sumy region using Russian “Molniya” drones and hexacopters.
Earlier, Ukrainian special forces had located and destroyed this unit’s deployment site in the Kursk region. The commander himself was outside his subordinates’ base at the time of the attack.
He is charged with high treason committed under martial law—Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
