Up to 100 civilians are killed every week in Ukraine as a result of Russian strikes, according to Klymenko
In Ukraine, between 70 and 100 civilians are killed every week as a result of Russian attacks.
This was reported by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko during the IV International Summit of Cities and Regions “Partnership. Resilience. Readiness.”
“The main thing we need to talk about is preserving the lives and health of our people, our children. Every week, we lose 70 to 100 of our civilian citizens. They are killed as a result of attacks by drones, ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and aerial bombs,” said Klymenko.
The minister emphasized that ensuring safety in communities remains one of the key challenges for the state and local authorities.
According to him, Ukrainians can obtain information about:
- the availability of shelters;
- the condition of shelters;
- the distance to the nearest shelter—in the “Diya” app.
Klymenko also announced that Ukraine has updated its national building codes. Developers are now required to include shelters in the design of residential buildings and infrastructure facilities.
The Minister of Internal Affairs emphasized that expanding the network of shelters is critically important, especially for border regions and communities that are regularly subjected to Russian shelling.
Separately, the minister thanked international partners for their support of Ukraine and assistance in strengthening the country’s security capabilities.
An explosion occurred in Zaporizhzhia on Tuesday, May 26, as a result of a Russian attack. The regional military administration reported that the enemy struck the city. According to preliminary data, three people were injured; details on the consequences are being clarified.
Russian occupation forces continue to terrorize the civilian population of Kherson. A 53-year-old local resident was killed as a result of an enemy drone attack on a residential building.
