Following the attack on Kyiv, Sibiga called on allies to urgently strengthen Ukraine's air defense capabilities

Following yet another massive Russian attack on Kyiv, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga stated that the country urgently needs additional air and missile defense systems, as well as interceptor missiles.

“A hellish night in Kyiv. As a result of Russia’s brutal attack, during which three dozen ballistic missiles were launched, at least 9 people were killed and 23 were wounded. This is already the second such large-scale strike in just two days,” Sibiga emphasized.

According to the minister, Russia, having failed to achieve its objectives on the front lines, is intensifying its aerial terror against Ukraine’s civilian population.

“Ukraine urgently needs additional air and missile defense systems, as well as interceptors. The speed of decision-making and deliveries is crucial. Every decision that strengthens the defense of Ukraine’s airspace saves lives, while every delay leads to deaths and war crimes,” the head of Ukrainian diplomacy stressed.

Sybiga called on international partners to expedite decisions regarding the supply of air defense systems, stressing that the prompt strengthening of Ukraine’s air defense is critically important for saving civilian lives.

The Ukrainian foreign minister wrote about this on social media platform X.

Nine people were killed and 28 others were wounded as a result of a Russian nighttime attack on Kyiv on August 1. Among the victims were four children.

On the evening of July 31, a Russian attack drone struck a high-rise residential building in the Saltivsky district of Kharkiv. According to preliminary reports, the building’s roof was damaged, but there were no casualties.

As a reminder, Russian drones attacked the Chernihiv region, damaging a gas station and a resort.

Russia launched a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv on the afternoon of July 24, although such attacks usually take place at night. An expert believes this may have been an attempt to wear down Ukraine’s air defense, a show of force, or the result of a technical delay in the missile launch.

Russian troops shot and killed a Ukrainian prisoner of war in the Donetsk region.
