Defense Forces strike enemy air defence systems and radar station

On the night of 16 March, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out a series of successful strikes against Russian air defence assets and command posts in temporarily occupied territories. The operation was part of ongoing efforts to reduce the aggressor’s offensive potential and weaken its defensive capabilities.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukrainian forces precisely targeted key enemy equipment in three regions.

“In order to reduce the offensive potential of the Russian aggressor, our units struck enemy air defence systems and command posts,” the statement said.

In particular, a Tor-M1 surface-to-air missile system was confirmed hit near the settlement of Korobkyne. Another Tor air defence system was disabled near Balashivka, significantly weakening the protection of occupying forces in that direction.

In addition, Ukrainian defenders damaged a radar station belonging to an S-300 surface-to-air missile system near Chervone. Such losses critically affect the enemy’s ability to detect aerial targets and coordinate its air defence operations.

Alongside the destruction of air defence equipment, Ukrainian forces also struck Russian command and observation posts. Accurate strikes were recorded near Stepne and Bahate.

Earlier, the Defense Forces reported eliminating another 760 Russian occupiers in a single day. Ukrainian paratroopers from the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade also crushed the occupiers’ “Oplot” battalion near Pokrovsk.
