The U.S. may put more pressure on Ukraine to make territorial concessions, says Zelenskyy

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Donald Trump administration may increase pressure on Kyiv, demanding territorial concessions in order to end the war.

The head of state made this remark in an interview with Axios.

According to Zelenskyy, once the conflict with Iran is over, Trump’s team may return to actively promoting the idea of a swift end to the war in Ukraine, specifically through territorial compromises.

“They want to end the war. What worries me is that they see only one way to do this. I am confident that President Trump and his team want to end the war. But why should we pay for it? We are not the aggressors,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

The president suggested that Washington might view the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from their own territories as one way to deter Vladimir Putin.

At the same time, Zelenskyy stressed that such approaches pose serious risks to Ukraine’s security.

“I am concerned that no one is really assessing the danger such a decision poses to our security,” he added.

Ukraine is ready to support a ceasefire during the Easter holidays, provided that state sovereignty and dignity are preserved, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted.

As a reminder, Zelenskyy explained why the trilateral meeting with Russia is falling through.

In an interview with Reuters, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also spoke about the actual losses the Russian army is incurring.
