The Special Operations Forces provided details on the destruction of the Russian ship "Karakurt" and an oil terminal
On the night of May 2, Special Operations Forces struck the Russian small missile ship *Karakurt*, armed with eight *Kalibr* cruise missiles, and a strategic oil terminal in the port of Primorsk in the Leningrad Oblast. The targets of the attack are located about 1,000 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
This was reported by the Special Operations Forces on Telegram.
The joint operation was carried out by Deep-strike units of the Special Operations Forces together with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), the Unmanned Systems Forces, and border guards. The targeted vessel was equipped with a “Pantsir-M” air defense system and was intended to protect the port’s infrastructure from Ukrainian drones. The “Primorsk” oil terminal, owned by Transneft, is the largest on the Baltic Sea and a key hub for the export of products by Russia’s shadow fleet.
The Special Operations Forces emphasized that the destruction of the enemy’s maritime and energy infrastructure significantly undermines its logistical capabilities. Such actions limit the Russian Federation’s ability to fill its budget while circumventing international sanctions. The asymmetric strikes by Ukrainian defenders are aimed at strategically weakening the enemy’s war-fighting capabilities. The 67-meter-long Karakurt was designed for combat in coastal waters and on the open sea.
Earlier reports indicated that, as a result of a joint operation by Ukrainian special services and various branches of the military, a Russian Karakurt-class small missile ship—which carries Kalibr cruise missiles—was successfully struck in the port of Primorsk. In addition to it, a patrol boat and a tanker belonging to the Russian Federation’s shadow oil fleet were damaged.
In the Leningrad region on the night of May 3, the occupiers reported a massive drone attack. According to their reports, air defense forces allegedly shot down dozens of drones.
Ukrainian forces struck two vessels of the Russian shadow oil fleet near the entrance to the port of Novorossiysk. They were being used to transport oil.
