The United States expressed concerns to Ukraine over an attack on oil infrastructure in Novorossiysk
Washington officially approached Kyiv with criticism regarding strikes on energy facilities in Novorossiysk.
The dissatisfaction stemmed from the impact of the attacks on international energy projects in which Western partners and Central Asian countries have vested interests.
The incident was described by Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States, Olha Stefanishyna, during a briefing with journalists.
According to her, the reaction from the American side was immediate and followed directly after the military operation was carried out.
Stefanishyna уточнила that after the Ukrainian drone attack in autumn 2025, she received an urgent phone call. Concerns were voiced by a senior official of the United States Department of State.
Washington’s main complaint concerned damage to a facility owned by the Caspian Pipeline Consortium.
This infrastructure is of strategic importance to the global energy market.
The terminal in Novorossiysk is used not only for transporting Russian oil.
This route is critically important for exporting Kazakh crude, as well as oil produced by American energy corporations.
Earlier, unidentified drones attacked an oil hub in Tatarstan.
Explosions were also reported at military airfields in Crimea.
