The court will sentence ten militants for treason and serving in the Russian military
The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office has officially charged ten Ukrainian citizens who voluntarily joined the ranks of the occupying forces of the aggressor state.
Under the procedural guidance of the agency, the suspects are charged with treason and collaboration.
The investigation established that the suspects, residents of the Donetsk, Luhansk, and Kherson regions as well as Sevastopol, consciously chose to side with the enemy between 2022 and 2025.
Among the suspects are individuals with varying histories of defecting to the occupier’s side: two men joined enemy armed formations even before the start of the full-scale invasion.
Four others expressed a desire to fight against their own state by signing contracts with the Russian Federation’s army directly while incarcerated.
As part of the invaders’ units, they held positions as riflemen, drivers, and squad leaders in assault companies and reconnaissance brigades.
The traitors carried out a wide range of tasks in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, including setting up defensive lines and delivering ammunition to the front lines.
“The commanders among the suspects coordinated the actions of their subordinates and organized their service,” the prosecutor’s office noted.
One of the suspects returned to his unit after deserting, became a tank commander, and underwent air defense training for attacks in the Kurakhove and Selidove areas.
As a reminder, an official from the Kyiv Department of Education will stand trial for overpaying nearly ₴2 million in electricity bills.
