Three killed and 35 injured as rescue operations conclude in Odesa

Rescue workers have completed search-and-rescue operations following a Russian drone attack on a residential building in Odesa. Tragically, three people were killed and another 35 were injured. Debris clearance and infrastructure restoration work is ongoing. The information was reported on Telegram by the Head of the Odesa Military Administration, Serhii Lysak.

During the night of 27 January, a Russian drone struck a residential building in Odesa, causing extensive destruction. “Search-and-rescue operations have been completed. Sadly, as a result of the enemy attack, Odesa has lost three people,” Lysak said in a Telegram post.

No one remains trapped under the rubble; however, efforts to deal with the aftermath continue. Municipal services are operating in an intensified mode, dismantling debris, clearing access roads and restoring elements of infrastructure. A total of 26 units of specialised equipment have been deployed, and 380 cubic metres of rubble have already been removed. “We organised the work of all services as quickly as possible to clear the area and assist the victims,” Lysak added. Among the 35 injured, most sustained injuries of varying severity and are receiving medical care.

Local utility workers emphasise that such strikes leave a significant impact not only physically but also psychologically on city residents, and urge people to follow safety rules and heed air raid warnings.

As previously reported, the death toll from the overnight attack on Odesa rose to three after bodies were discovered under the rubble of destroyed buildings in the Peresyp district. Earlier, rescue workers in Odesa recovered the body of a second victim — a man — during debris removal on Prokhorivska Street in the Peresyp district. The tragedy occurred as a result of a massive Russian drone attack that struck the city during the night of 27 January.
