CPD: Putin’s statements confirm Russia’s unwillingness to seek peace

According to the Center for Countering Disinformation (CPD) under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Vladimir Putin’s speeches during his “Direct Line” once again demonstrate that the Russian regime is not interested in ending the war.
This is reported by the CPD.

The CPD specifically noted that although Putin claims to be “ready for dialogue,” he immediately ties this “readiness” to conditions that were voiced in the summer of 2024 and are strictly unacceptable for Ukraine.

At the same time, the dictator continues to broadcast military rhetoric, tries to intimidate with nonexistent successes of Russian occupation forces, blatantly lies about the “capture” of several settlements, and the “encirclement” of Ukrainian Armed Forces units. He even dares to make “announcements” of further advances.

Against the backdrop of this Putin bravado, separate statements about the alleged “unwillingness of Ukraine” to discuss peace sound extremely cynical, as it is Ukraine that consistently declares openness to negotiations, works on the parameters of a future peace agreement, and insists on international law.

“Putin’s rhetoric shows that the Kremlin is not seeking compromise. Russia continues to buy time and shifts the responsibility for the absence of peace onto Ukraine,” the CPD summarized.

It is noted that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin held a briefing on December 19 during his so-called “Direct Line” — a traditional Russian event where he answers questions allegedly “from the Russian people.” Among other things, Putin fabricated the “capture” of Kupiansk (and for some reason moved it to Sumy region), as well as the “capture” of Siversk, and once again, the “encirclement” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The CPD warned about fake reports regarding power outages being spread on TikTok.
