In Kyiv, the number of casualties from Russia’s mass attack rises to 26, four people killed

In Kyiv, the number of people injured as a result of Russia’s combined attack has risen to 26, with four fatalities, the Kyiv Police reported on Facebook.

Law enforcement continues to document the aftermath of the latest strike on the capital. Operational headquarters have been set up in seven districts, and over 240 police officers have been involved in response efforts. Additional investigative and operational teams have also been deployed.

imageAs of 02:00 p.m., police had received more than 170 reports from residents regarding property damage and other consequences of the attack.

“At this time, the death of one person in the Darnytskyi district has been confirmed — a 56-year-old medical worker — and three people in the Dniprovskyi district, including a 41-year-old man, a 49-year-old woman, and one body still awaiting identification based on forensic examination results,” the police stated.

According to authorities, 26 people have been injured, including a police officer, five State Emergency Service personnel, and four medical workers.

Police are recording damage, inspecting buildings, receiving citizens’ reports, and providing all necessary assistance. Recovery and clean-up operations are ongoing.

On the night of 9 January, Russian forces carried out a massive attack on Kyiv, using drones and missiles from multiple directions. Intercepting so many targets simultaneously proved difficult.

From 07:30 p.m. on 8 January, the enemy launched a combined strike on critical infrastructure in Ukraine using attack drones, as well as sea- and land-launched missiles.

Russian forces carried out a massive assault on residential areas of Kyiv, causing damage in several districts, including Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi, Desnianskyi, Pecherskyi, and Shevchenkivskyi.
