An explosion damaged the Taras Shevchenko metro station in Kyiv

An explosion occurred in Kyiv near the “Taras Shevchenko” metro station. The station’s facade was damaged by the blast—part of the lettering crumbled, and a thick column of smoke rose above the scene.

The explosion occurred near one of the station’s entrances. Afterward, a column of black smoke rose above the scene. Footage released shows the station’s damaged facade and letters that fell as a result of the blast.

The “Taras Shevchenko” station is also used as a shelter during airstrikes.

On the night of September 8, Kyiv came under attack by Russian forces, resulting in fires and destruction in various parts of the city.

This was reported with reference to local media.

“We’re having good success shooting down cruise missiles, but it’s not easy with ballistic missiles,” Zelenskyy said.

On September 8, Russian forces launched two “Shahed” missiles at the Kyiv–Sumy train. The train had been stopped in advance, and passengers and crew members were evacuated after a warning from the Ukrzaliznytsia monitoring team.

As a reminder, fires broke out at industrial facilities in the Kyiv region due to the Russian attack.

Russia also launched a massive attack on Kyiv, killing and wounding civilians.

Later, rescue workers showed the aftermath of the strikes on Kyiv.
