The Kremlin has threatened Ukraine with an expansion of the buffer zone

The Kremlin has threatened Ukraine with an expansion of the buffer zone

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia may expand the so-called “buffer zone” along the border with Ukraine. He also claimed that Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory would allegedly only prolong the war.

The Kremlin stated that the more Ukraine strikes Russia, the wider the “buffer zone” along the border will have to be, and the longer the war may last. This was said by Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. His words were quoted by Russian media.

“The more the Kyiv regime strikes our infrastructure, the larger we will have to make our security zones. Further escalation may prolong the ‘special military operation’ to some extent—we cannot say exactly to what extent. But this will certainly lead to us having to establish a larger security zone, a large buffer zone,” Peskov said.

In addition, he responded to the U.S. president’s statement regarding the possible closure of airspace over Ukraine.

“This is a new statement. There were no such statements before. Previously, no one discussed closing the airspace. In any case, this would mean that NATO armed forces would be operating on Ukrainian territory. This is precisely what the ‘special military operation’ is being conducted to prevent,” Peskov said.

He also stated that Putin and Trump have “established a constructive dialogue,” and claimed that the White House chief did not call his Russian counterpart the day before because he was “clearly busy after all his meetings in Ankara”:

“President Putin is always happy to talk. They do indeed have a constructive dialogue, despite certain differences that may exist.”

As a reminder, Putin urgently convened a meeting due to a fuel shortage in Russia.

As a reminder, Zelenskyy told Trump that Moscow is not a suitable location for negotiations due to the danger posed by drones.

Trump stated that the U.S. may allow Ukraine to manufacture missiles for the Patriot system.

Also, U.S. President Donald Trump criticized Spain ahead of the NATO summit in Ankara, declaring his intention to sever trade relations and halt visits between the two countries.
