The Kremlin stated that it would not agree to a freeze along the front lines

Yuri Ushakov, an aide to the Russian dictator, stated that Moscow is not considering the possibility of freezing the war against Ukraine along the current line of contact.

According to Ushakov, the Kremlin’s position on such a scenario remains unchanged. He also noted that diplomatic contacts typically take place behind closed doors, whereas high-profile statements are already part of the open political process.

He made these remarks on August 18 during an appearance on Russian propaganda television channels.

Zelenskyy has acknowledged the possibility of a ceasefire along the front lines.

Zelenskyy published an open letter to Putin—full text.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Moscow is allegedly ready for negotiations to end the war against Ukraine, but sees no willingness to engage in dialogue on the Ukrainian side.

Putin is not changing course and continues to finance the war.
