Rivers of oil flowed in the Port of Pivdennyi after a Russian strike – video

Russian occupying forces carried out a series of devastating strikes on the port infrastructure of Odesa region , in particular on the terminal of the Swiss company Allseeds Switzerland. According to the company’s director, Cornelis (Kees) Vriens, the facilities in the Port of Pivdennyi were bombed last week, as well as during the night of December 21 and on the morning of the same day.

This was reported by the Swiss news agency Keystone-SDA.

As a result of the enemy attack on the enterprise, one employee was killed and two others were injured. This became part of a more massive missile strike on the ports of Odesa region , which overall claimed the lives of eight people. Large-scale fires broke out on the terminal’s territory: three tanks containing sunflower oil continued to burn throughout the day. Emergency services are operating under extremely difficult conditions due to prolonged air raid alerts and the threat of repeated strikes.

The shelling led to a real local-scale environmental disaster. Due to damage to the storage tanks, thousands of tons of sunflower oil spilled across the port area and adjacent streets, forming “rivers” of the product.

  • Losses of products: Thousands of tons of finished oil intended for export were destroyed.

  • Lack of insurance: According to Kees Vriens, the company’s facilities were not insured against war risks, which significantly complicates recovery.

  • Repeated attacks: This is already the eighth shelling of Allseeds facilities since the start of the full-scale invasion.

The attack on Allseeds was part of a broader wave of strikes on Odesa region , which also damaged a bridge in the area of Maiaky and energy infrastructure. As of the evening of December 21, more than 37,000 subscribers in Odesa and the Odesa district remain without electricity. Despite the destruction, the Ministry for Communities and Territorial Development assures that logistical routes for goods and emergency services are being maintained through alternative routes.
