Putin’s aide names who will draft the peace plan on behalf of the United States
Yury Ushakov, an aide to the Russian dictator, is convinced that Jared Kushner — the son-in-law of U.S. President Donald Trump — will have significant influence over the preparation of a peace agreement for Ukraine.
Ushakov said this in comments to Russian media.
“I personally believe that in many respects, if some plan leading to a settlement is drafted on paper, it will largely be Kushner who will be holding the pen,” Ushakov emphasized.
The Kremlin aide added that Kushner’s participation in the talks in Russia “turned out to be very timely.” According to him, Kushner added an “element of systematization” to the “charm and goodwill” of the U.S. special envoy, Steve Witkoff.
A Ukrainian delegation headed by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov and Chief of the General Staff Anatoliy Hnatov will hold another round of negotiations with representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump on the evening of December 5.
From the American side, the talks will include:
- Steve Witkoff — Special Representative of the U.S. President;
- Jared Kushner — Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian delegation held talks in the United States on December 4 regarding the updated version of the American peace plan, which had been revised in Geneva.
