Putin outraged that the West suspects Russia of preparing for a major war

The Kremlin called NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte’s statement about preparing for war with Russia “irresponsible,” claiming that he does not understand the scale of destruction during World War II.

According to Russian media, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told state television journalist Pavel Zarubin that Rutte’s statement “resembles the words of a generation that has managed to forget what the Second World War was really like.” Peskov added that “they do not understand, and unfortunately, Mr. Rutte, by making such irresponsible statements, simply does not know what he is talking about.”

In his speech in Berlin on Thursday, Mark Rutte said that NATO must be “ready for a war on the scale that our grandparents and great-grandparents experienced,” and asserted that “we are Russia’s next target.”

The Kremlin has repeatedly rejected NATO statements and remarks from some European leaders suggesting that Russia plans to attack a NATO member, calling them “nonsense” used by European leaders to fuel anti-Russian hysteria.

Recall: NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that alliance member countries are “Russia’s next target.” According to him, the war could escalate to a scale experienced by our grandparents and great-grandparents.

Earlier, Rutte said he had long stopped trying to guess what is on the mind of Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin and relies only on the facts.
