An L-39 training aircraft crashed in Russia
In the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation, an L-39 “Albatros” training aircraft, which is in service with the Russian Aerospace Forces, crashed.
According to preliminary reports, the crash occurred while the crew was performing advanced aerobatic maneuvers at low altitude.
There is currently no information available regarding the cause of the crash or the condition of the crew. The Czechoslovak-built L-39 is used to train military pilots and to practice piloting techniques and combat operations.
This is not the first crash involving this type of aircraft in the Krasnodar Krai. According to publicly available data, as of 2024, Russia operated approximately 90 L-39 aircraft, and military aviation accidents have been regularly reported in the country in recent years.
On Thursday, July 23, the Russian military’s newest fighter jet, the Su-57, crashed in the Moscow region. The cost of such an aircraft is estimated at no less than $100 million.
Ukrainian drones struck eight of the ten largest Russian oil refineries by processing volume, with some facilities being hit multiple times.
