The Ukrainian Armed Forces dismissed Russia's claims of street fighting in Orikhiv as nonsense
Vladislav Voloshin, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, called the claim by Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov—that Russian troops are allegedly fighting directly in the streets of Orikhiv, Zaporizhzhia Oblast—"complete nonsense." According to Voloshin, the occupiers’ nearest positions are located 10–12 km from the city—in the areas of Malaya Tokmachka and Nesterianka.
He stated this in a comment to LIGA.net, emphasizing that the enemy has not advanced to the settlement itself.
Ukrainian units are taking preemptive action, which limits the enemy’s assault capabilities in this direction. Although Russian sabotage groups are attempting to approach Novodanilivka, Ukrainian defenses remain stable and are preventing the enemy from entering Orikhiv. Unlike in Ukraine, where official sources promptly refute disinformation with specific geodata, in Russia, military leadership continues to spread false information about “successes” to create a misleading picture of the front lines. The situation in the Novopavlivka area also remains under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, despite Russian propaganda claims of territorial control.
Defense forces have refuted Russia’s claim of occupying Luhansk Oblast.
