The Ukrainian Armed Forces denied reports of an attempt by a sabotage group to break through to Nikopol
Reports of alleged attempts by Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups to infiltrate Nikopol via the bottom of the former Kakhovka Reservoir have not been confirmed.
This was reported by Vladislav Voloshin, spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces.
According to him, reports circulated in certain media outlets and local public groups are not true.
Voloshin explained that the terrain in the area of the former Kakhovka Reservoir is difficult to navigate due to swampy areas, reeds, remaining water, and the need to cross the main channel of the Dnipro River.
He noted that even at the narrowest points near Nikopol, the river is approximately 250–400 meters wide, so crossing it requires boats and time.
At the same time, the spokesperson noted that the Defense Forces are monitoring the situation and do not rule out sabotage threats from Russian troops.
