A Russian strike on a monastery in the Kherson region claimed the life of a priest
Russian forces attacked a monastery in the village of Chervonyi Mayak, in the Novorayska community of the Kherson region, using a drone. A 71-year-old clergyman was killed in the strike, and four other priests were wounded.
The strike occurred the day before, around 3:00 p.m. According to Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Russian forces attacked the monastery in the village of Chervonyi Mayak in the Novorayska community. Russian troops used an FPV drone to carry out the strike.
A 71-year-old priest was killed in the attack. He sustained fatal injuries. “Yesterday, around 3:00 p.m., Russian terrorists attacked a monastery in the village of Chervonyi Mayak in the Novoraysk community using a drone. A 71-year-old priest was killed by the strike of an enemy FPV drone. My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones,” Prokudin said.
Four other priests were injured
In addition to the deceased, four other clergymen were injured during the attack. According to the Kherson Regional Military Administration, the injured are 31, 51, 51, and 53 years old.
Preliminary reports indicate they sustained blast injuries. Authorities have not yet provided further details on their condition. All of the victims were on the monastery grounds during the Russian attack.
