Ukraine will not leave Donbas; U.S. seeks compromise — Zelenskyy

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is not considering withdrawing from Donetsk region, despite pressure from Russia.

He made this remark while answering journalists’ questions, according to Ukrinform.

According to Zelenskyy, the aggressor country, Russia, seeks full control over all of Donbas and is trying to force Kyiv to abandon these territories.

The head of state emphasized that Russia’s position is open and consistent, but Ukraine will not accept such conditionsand is not ready to take any steps that would mean a de facto surrender of its lands.

Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine’s official position remains unchanged — Kyiv will not make concessions that contradict national interests and sovereignty.

At the same time, the United States, according to Zelenskyy, is currently trying to find a compromise solutionregarding the situation in Donbas.

The president noted that any proposals must take into account Ukraine’s interests and must not legitimize Russian aggression.

Commenting on the negotiation process, Zelenskyy mentioned discussions about a “20-point peace plan”, as well as a package of security guarantees and agreements for post-war reconstruction.

He added that in the coming days — Friday and Saturday — the Ukrainian negotiation team will hold a series of meetings in the United States.

It is recalled that Zelenskyy has outlined key steps to limit Russia in the war, and also commented on Putin’s statements regarding the end of the war.
