Ukraine seeks a dignified end to the war — Umerov
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Rustem Umerov stated that the main goal of the Ukrainian delegation during the latest negotiations was to obtain complete and reliable information about the contacts between the United States and Russia in Moscow.
He reported this in his post on Telegram.
According to Umerov, the Ukrainian side focused on the substance of the dialogue between Washington and Moscow and on all current proposals concerning future peace.
Umerov emphasized that he had spent several days working in the United States together with the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andrii Hnatov.
They held consultations with representatives of US President Donald Trump, discussing the parameters of a possible peace settlement.
The NSDC Secretary noted the “constructive nature” of these contacts and the readiness of the American side for a substantive dialogue regarding Ukraine.
According to Umerov, the top priority for the Ukrainian team was to obtain from the United States all details of its negotiations in Moscow.
This includes both verbal agreements and drafts of current proposals that could affect the security situation and future decisions of Kyiv. Umerov stressed that these materials must be carefully analyzed together with the President of Ukraine in order to develop a unified position.
The NSDC Secretary stated that Ukraine, together with its international partners, “must do everything to achieve a dignified end to this war.”
According to him, this concerns not only stopping hostilities but also achieving a lasting and just peace that would guarantee the security of Ukrainians. Umerov emphasized that any agreements must take into account Ukraine’s interests and must not undermine its sovereignty.
As a reminder, the United States risks provoking a new nuclear arms race due to its peace plan for Ukraine.
The US has also divided its “peace plan” regarding Ukraine into four negotiation packages with Russia.
