Ukrainian air defenses shot down 269 out of 294 drones during a massive Russian attack
Ukraine's air defense forces have destroyed or intercepted 269 of the 294 drones that Russia has used to attack Ukraine since the evening of May 15.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported this on Telegram.
Starting at 6:00 p.m., the enemy deployed 294 Shahed-type strike UAVs (including jet-powered ones), “Gerbera,” “Italmas,” and “Parody”decoy drones. The launches were carried out from Russian territory and the temporarily occupied Crimea.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
As of 09:00, the following has been confirmed:
- 269 drones destroyed or neutralized
- 20 drones struck 15 locations
- debris fell on 9 additional locations
The Air Force noted that the attack was ongoing and enemy drones remained in the air.
Since Friday evening, the Russian army has carried out more than 20 attacks on three districts in the Dnipropetrovsk region, resulting in at least one casualty.
On May 15, a Russian drone attacked the Hryhorii Skovoroda National Literary and Memorial Museum in the Kharkiv region. The strike damaged the protective shelter of the site, which is under UNESCO protection.
Russian troops struck a facility belonging to one of the structural units of Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo in the Zaporizhzhia district. The attack damaged service vehicles.
