Over the past 24 hours, Russia has lost 1,230 invaders and two air defense systems in the war against Ukraine
As of May 16, 2026, the Russian army’s total combat losses since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine amount to approximately 1,347,620 troops. Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces have lost another 1,230 personnel.
This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to updated data, Russia has also lost:
- 11,937 tanks (+2 in the past 24 hours);
- 24,574 armored combat vehicles (+5);
- 42,133 artillery systems (+48);
- 1,788 multiple launch rocket systems;
- 1,381 air defense systems (+2);
- 436 aircraft (+1);
- 352 helicopters;
- 1,397 ground-based robotic systems (+9);
- 293,323 tactical-level UAVs (+1,865);
- 4,626 cruise missiles;
- 33 ships and boats;
- 2 submarines;
- 96,793 vehicles and tankers (+253);
- 4,191 units of specialized equipment (+7).
The General Staff noted that the data on losses is being refined.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia has intensified contacts with Alexander Lukashenko in an attempt to draw Belarus deeper into the war.
Since the start of the day, 80 combat engagements have been recorded between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian troops. The enemy is carrying out the most intense attacks in the Pokrovsk, Kostyantynivka, and Huliaipole sectors.
