A Ukrainian aircraft used an interceptor drone for the first time to destroy an enemy Shahed
A unique instance of using transport aircraft to combat enemy aerial targets has been officially recorded in Ukraine.
An An-28 aircraft served as a “mother ship” for the first time, launching a P1-SUN interceptor drone from the air, which successfully destroyed an Iranian “Shahed” kamikaze drone.
Air launch technology significantly increases the effectiveness of hunting enemy UAVs.
The aircraft lifts the interceptor to the required altitude, and after the target is locked onto by radar, the drone exits the “carrier’s” cabin with initial velocity and a full battery charge for maneuvering.
“In the video, you can see a great development by our engineers, thanks to which our An-28s can now carry not only the crew but also P1-SUN interceptors, and shoot down aerial targets over Ukrainian territory,” reads the caption accompanying the released footage.
The video captures the moment the drone stabilizes in the air and accurately strikes the enemy aircraft.
