Overnight, Russia attacked energy facilities in several regions
On the night of Monday, 2 March, Russian occupying forces carried out another targeted attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
As a result of the enemy strikes, hits and damage to power networks were recorded, causing widespread outages for consumers in the Donetsk Oblast, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and Sumy Oblast regions.
The Ministry of Energy confirmed that, due to power deficits and the need to carry out repairs in certain areas, hourly rolling blackouts have been introduced. These measures apply to all categories of consumers, while industrial enterprises are additionally subject to power limitation schedules.
Energy authorities urged citizens to use resources consciously in order to stabilize the operation of the energy system.
“We ask consumers in regions with hourly outages to use electricity sparingly throughout the day, especially during peak consumption hours in the morning and evening,” the ministry emphasised.
According to Ukrenergo, as of Monday morning, electricity consumption had increased by 7.6% compared with the previous Friday. This trend is attributed to changing temperatures and the gradual resumption of industrial activity following previous attacks.
It is recalled that the Air Force recently reviewed the three-month battle to defend Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
Russian forces also attacked 28 settlements in the Kherson Oblast.
