For the first time, Russian Shahid drones reached western Ukraine

On Tuesday, August 18, 2026, jet-powered drones were spotted for the first time in western Ukraine. They traveled about 900 km from their launch site.

The jet-powered drones flew over the Vinnytsia, Ternopil, Rivne, and
Volyn regions. At 5:55 p.m., the Ukrainian Air Force reported that a Russian drone was flying through the Vinnytsia region toward the Khmelnytskyi region (Nova Ushytsia/Dunaivtsi).

Half an hour later, the jet-powered UAV flew through the Ternopil region into Volyn, toward Dubno.

Later, Oleksandr Koval, head of the Rivne Regional State Administration, reported that an aerial target had been shot down in the south of the region—likely the same jet-powered “Shahed.”

This was reported by the Ukrainian Air Force on Telegram and eRadar on Telegram.

As a reminder, on the morning of August 18, Russia launched 76 jet-powered drones at Ukraine

On August 18, a fire broke out at warehouses in the Brovary district of the Kyiv region following a Russian drone attack.

The Kyiv Metro made changes to train schedules on the red and green lines.

In the capital, air raid alerts were issued nine times on August 18 due to the threat of UAVs.
