Crimea reports disruption in fuel supplies – Reuters
Fuel supply disruptions have occurred in the temporarily occupied Crimea, prompting the local occupation administration to suspend the distribution of gasoline via ration coupons. Trucks carrying fuel were unable to reach the peninsula on time due to disruptions in logistics routes, which, according to sources, are linked to strikes on Russian infrastructure.
As the agency reports, statements by the so-called governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozhayev, that gasoline coupons cannot be redeemed temporarily coincided with comments by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that Kyiv’s ongoing campaign targeting energy facilities in Russia and its annexed territories has proven effective.
Reuters noted that Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014, introduced fuel rationing last month due to a shortage on the peninsula.
“Unfortunately, tanker trucks were unable to reach the city this evening,” Razvozhayev wrote on Telegram, noting that on Thursday, public transportation and utility services, as well as emergency and government vehicles, would be given priority for refueling.
“I’m addressing everyone: there’s no point in standing in lines at ‘... gas stations’ tomorrow,” he noted late Wednesday, adding that existing fuel coupons would be canceled and new ones issued on Thursday.
Later, Razvozhayev reported that more than two dozen Ukrainian drones were shot down in the early hours of Thursday during a new attack on Sevastopol, the peninsula’s second-largest city and the base of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
It is noted that the fuel shortage in the city arose as Ukraine intensified its campaign of drone and medium- and long-range missile strikes on Russian industrial facilities, forcing Russia to cut oil production in the world’s third-largest producer.
“In recent months, we are particularly grateful for the medium-range strikes: Russian military logistics throughout the depth of the temporarily occupied territory are now within range of Ukrainian drones,” Zelenskyy said in his evening address, according to Reuters.
As a reminder, drone operators from the 3rd Separate Regiment of the Special Operations Forces named after Prince Sviatoslav the Brave have established air control over part of the strategic Melitopol — Chongar, which Russian troops actively use to supply their forces in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
In May 2026, the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched a series of strikes against key elements of Russian military infrastructure as part of the “middle strike” campaign. Logistical routes in the Luhansk region and toward Crimea, as well as the occupiers’ warehouses, headquarters, and air defense systems, came under fire, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.
