In Odessa, an attack damaged a dormitory at the music academy; five students were injured
In Odesa, during a Russian missile and drone attack on the night of April 16, the dormitory building of the Odesa National Music Academy named after A. V. Nezhdanova was damaged. Five students were injured as a result of the attack.
This was reported by Alexander Murza, dean of the orchestra department.
“Three buildings were damaged; we are relocating the students. Most students managed to get to the shelter during the alarm, but unfortunately, some were asleep. Five students were injured, mostly upperclassmen. As for the building, a special commission will assess its condition, and then we will decide on restoration,” Murza said.
Two buildings adjacent to the dormitory were also significantly damaged as a result of the shelling.
Lilia, a sophomore in the Vocal and Choral Department, said she woke up in the middle of the night to a rumbling sound.
“We were sleeping, didn’t hear anything; it was 2 a.m. There was a rumbling—and literally a second later, an explosion rang out. We went out—the doors and windows were gone, blood everywhere... Everyone went to the conservatory; our rector and other staff arrived immediately,” the girl said.
