In occupied Crimea, nine districts were left without power due to drone attacks

On the night of April 2, explosions were heard in various parts of occupied Crimea, and an alert was issued in the region due to the threat of drones and missiles. As a result of the attack, nine districts of the peninsula were left without power.

This was reported by Russian Telegram channels.

Power outages were recorded in the Simferopol, Dzhankoy, Krasnogvardeisky, Saki, and Krasnoperekopsky districts, as well as in Sevastopol and Feodosia. Russian authorities claim that the outage was allegedly caused by “technical malfunctions in the main power grids” and promised to restore power within three hours.

However, the monitoring channel “Krymsky Veter” reports that power went out in many districts following a series of explosions amid a drone attack.

“Before the power went out in the Krasnoperekopsk district, we heard powerful ‘impacts.’ There were at least five of them,” said one witness.

According to eyewitnesses, many explosions were heard in the northern part of Crimea, as well as in the Simferopol district near the Tavriya Thermal Power Plant. Active Russian air defense operations were recorded near the Kirovskoye military airfield, where several aircraft were also observed taking off.

The airfield is subordinate to the Chkalov Flight Test Center of the Russian Ministry of Defense (military unit 3865). No official information regarding the consequences of the massive attack on Crimea has been received so far.

Additionally, on the night of April 2, a large-scale fire broke out at an oil refinery in the Russian city of Ufa following a drone attack.

As a reminder, the Russian oil refinery “Kirishinefteorgsintez” (KINEF) in the city of Kirishi, which was hit by drone attacks last week, may partially resume production within a month. This will depend on how quickly Russian ports resume operations for oil shipments.

As a reminder, on the night of March 26, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the Kirishi oil refinery in the city of Kirishi, Leningrad Oblast, Russian Federation.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully struck a strategically important facility of the Russian Federation’s fuel and energy infrastructure. The target was the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim oil refinery, located in the city of Ufa, approximately 1,400 kilometers from Ukraine’s state border.
