Video: Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers destroyed a Russian assault group before it reached the front line

Soldiers of the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Mstislav the Brave thwarted an attempt by Russian assault troops to advance toward the front line of Ukrainian positions.

According to military officials, reconnaissance units detected the enemy group, after which strike drone crews began engaging it.

“Reconnaissance detected the target—the bomber and FPV drones destroyed it. The enemy soldiers acted quite competently—they kept their distance and used green camouflage to hide. But the operators of the 1st Mechanized Battalion ‘KASSTA’ work flawlessly. After the group was detected by reconnaissance assets, the Heavy Shot and FPV crews immediately sprang into action. And after a series of strikes, the enemy group was completely destroyed,” the brigade’s statement reads.

Thus, the Russian assault troops were unable to reach the front line, and Ukrainian UAV operators destroyed the enemy group after it was detected by reconnaissance.

The brigade released a video of the drone operators’ operations on Tuesday, August 18, on its Telegram channel.

Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance units also discovered a Russian military hideout in the Northern Slobozhanshchyna sector and, using FPV drones, destroyed seven of the occupiers’ motorcycles.

As a reminder, on the night of August 14, the Ukrainian military struck two ground-based repeaters that supported the operation of “Geran” strike drones and also destroyed five Russian military drone command posts.

As a reminder, the Orsk Oil Refinery in the Orenburg Region of the Russian Federation completely halted operations following an attack by Ukrainian drones.

Freight transportation costs are rising in Russia due to the strikes on the refinery, according to Reuters.

As a reminder, the Russian oil refinery “Orsknefteorgsintez” halted oil processing following a Ukrainian drone attack on August 11.
