Video: Kherson May Be Left Without Heating This Winter Due to Shelling
Kherson risks being left without heat this winter, as the city’s power generation facilities are in extremely poor condition. Constant Russian shelling is hindering the necessary repair work.
This was reported by Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, deputy head of the Kherson Regional State Administration.
“Over the past week, the number of drones has decreased by about 30 percent. I don’t know what this is due to. Perhaps it’s due to delays in logistics. Perhaps it’s due to a rotation of certain units responsible for carrying out these drone attacks on local targets,” he said.
Tolokonnikov added that as of now, approximately 500 FPV drones are flying into the Kherson region per day, although just a week or two ago their number reached 1,000.
“The issue is that we can and must prepare, but when they keep arriving there every day, it sets us back. The system itself—the heat supply—is ready. But the power generation facilities, unfortunately, are now in critical condition following attacks by Russian drones,” emphasized the deputy head of the Regional State Administration.
According to him, if enemy shelling of the electrical, power, and heat-generating infrastructure were to stop now, it would be possible to predict a restoration and restart within a month.
“Of course, we’re constantly warning that this winter might be without heat, because the Russians were shelling us last winter as well, but thanks to the heroic efforts of the thermal power plant workers, we were still able to provide people with heat, even though there were days when 100 shells were landing on the thermal power plant,” Tolokonnikov said.
He noted that the question is how the enemy will behave this year.
