Soldiers of the 159th Separate Mechanized Brigade found themselves surrounded after holding their positions for an extended period. The 425th Separate Assault Regiment “Skelya” came to the soldiers’ aid, breaking through Russian lines.

“We turned to the ‘Skelya’ regiment for help to break out of the encirclement,” said one of the soldiers from the 159th Brigade in a video released by the 425th Assault Regiment.

Another soldier from the 159th Brigade said he had spent seven months at the positions, while some of his comrades had been there for up to 11 months. According to him, the situation worsened after Russian troops began infiltrating from both sides of the settlement where the Ukrainian fighters were stationed.

“We’ve been surrounded since around February and remain so to this day,” the soldier said.

He also described the condition of the people at the positions: exhaustion, lack of food and water.

“We were all exhausted at our positions. It’s hunger; it’s dehydration,” the soldier explained.

“Skelya” noted that the regiment commander responded immediately after receiving the request. Assault troops broke through the Russian positions, entered the settlement, and cleared a path for the evacuation of Ukrainian soldiers.

According to “Skelya,” the operation resulted in the rescue of 21 Ukrainian servicemen. During the mission, nine Russian soldiers were also taken prisoner.

The operation was not limited to the evacuation of military personnel. “Skeli” fighters also evacuated two civilians who were in the gray zone.

One of the evacuees said that people had been hiding in a cellar.

“The guys came and said, ‘Gather your documents.’ They came, picked us up, and took us away from there,” she said.

After the evacuation, the civilians were handed over to volunteers.

In the report, soldiers from the 159th Brigade say that after the operation, everyone they managed to rescue is alive.

“Right now, everyone is doing well. Everyone is alive and well,” said one of the soldiers.

As a reminder, in recent days, Brigadier General Andriy Biletsky, commander of the Third Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, began publicly discussing information that had previously been known only to select military experts, the command, and those directly involved in the events. As it turns out, for several months now, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have been conducting Operation “Vivaldi”—an offensive operation in northern Donetsk Oblast. All this time, they kept it under wraps so as not to violate the information “blackout.”

On September 18 and during the night of September 19, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a number of key military targets belonging to Russian terrorist forces. Among the targets hit were drone control centers, a training ground, and enemy warehouses.

As a result of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ attack on the Russian military airfield “Rostov-Central,” four enemy aircraft were destroyed. This is evidenced by photos that have appeared on social media.
