Video: Zelenskyy Discussed with Trump the Possibility of Negotiations with Russia in the U.S.
On June 15, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on a conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump regarding a possible meeting with Russia on U.S. soil. According to him, such a format could make it more difficult for Vladimir Putin to refuse negotiations on ending the war.
“We offered Putin to meet anywhere where real decisions could be made to end the war. He doesn’t want that. We discussed with the U.S. and France the possibility of a meeting with Russia on the sidelines of the G7, with the participation of all democratic states. Putin does not want this,” he emphasized.
The head of state reported that yesterday he discussed with President Trump that such a meeting could be organized in the U.S. in a format “in which it would be much harder for Putin to refuse at least President Trump.”
“We’ll see what comes of this. If Russia turns down this opportunity as well, additional pressure will be needed,” he added.
