Photo/Video: The Ukrainian Armed Forces struck a Gazprom oil refinery in Bashkortostan
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that the “Gazprom Neftohim Salavat” oil refinery complex in Bashkortostan, Russia, had been struck. The attack took place on the night of August 13, when Ukrainian forces struck the facility in the city of Salavat.
It is noted that the plant serves the needs of the Russian fuel and energy sector and is involved in supplying the Russian Federation’s occupying army.
The refinery was struck by operators from the 1st Separate Special Forces Center in coordination with other units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. A fire was reported on the plant’s premises.
The distance to Ukraine’s state border is approximately 1,300 km.
"Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat" is one of the largest oil refining and petrochemical complexes in the Russian Federation.
Its hydrocarbon processing capacity is up to 10 million metric tons per year. The facility produces, among other things, automotive gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, polyethylene, and other petroleum products and polymers. It is involved in supplying the Russian occupation army.
In Russia, freight transportation costs are rising due to strikes on oil refineries, according to Reuters.
As a reminder, the Russian oil refinery “Orsknefteorgsintez” halted oil processing following an attack by Ukrainian drones on August 11.
