Military authorities have denied rumors of a threat of a semi-encirclement of Sumy
Claims that Sumy is on the verge of falling or that the situation in the region has critically deteriorated are untrue and are not supported by the map of hostilities.
This was officially stated by Viktor Tregubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Operation, while commenting on alarming reports that have begun circulating online.
Currently, the situation in the Sumy region remains tense but is fully under the control of Ukrainian defenders. Russian troops do not have sufficient forces or resources to carry out a plan to encircle the regional center.
Military command emphasizes that any claims of a critical threat to the city from the east are unfounded. As of today, the occupiers are at a considerable distance from Sumy, making a semi-encirclement scenario impossible.
“Of course, there is the factor of Russian offensives, but as of now, in our area of responsibility, the Russians are so far from this city, have penetrated so shallowly into Ukrainian territory, and have such a limited presence in the immediate vicinity of the border—that any claims about the possibility of reaching Sumy from the east do not correspond to reality,” explained Viktor Tregubov.
The rate of recruitment of contract soldiers into the Russian army has fallen to a two-year low
As a reminder, mercenaries from Africa received Russian passports for serving in the Russian Federation in the war against Ukraine.
Also, the number of Belarusian mercenaries in the Russian army has increased nearly 100-fold.
