Vitkoff announced “significant progress” in negotiations on ending the war
Special Representative of the US President, Stephen Vitkoff, reported “significant progress” in talks that could bring an end to the Russia-Ukraine war.
He said this during the Ukrainian Breakfast in Davos, organized by the Viktor Pinchuk Foundation, according to a correspondent from European Pravda.
According to him, the negotiation process is already “in the final stage.” Vitkoff added that there were misunderstandings at the start, but further work yielded tangible results.
Vitkoff emphasized that he remains optimistic and sees the parties’ readiness to move toward a solution.
The day before, he spoke with the Ukrainian delegation, which included Secretary of the NSDC Rustem Umerov, Head of the President’s Office Kyrylo Budanov, and leader of the “Servant of the People” faction David Arakhamia.
The US President’s representative described the team as very strong and stated that during the meeting the parties aligned on a key issue.
“If both sides want to resolve this issue — we will do it,” he conveyed his position, noting that he had already informed the US President about it.
Vitkoff also noted the involvement of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to him, Zelensky “actively works” and is constantly in touch when it is necessary to clarify positions or receive political guidance.
He also emphasized that the US President is “also always available” for coordination. According to Vitkoff, this format speeds up decision-making and reduces the risk of delays.
