Drone attack on Moscow halts airports
On the night of December 15, Moscow and surrounding areas were targeted by unknown drones, causing explosions in the town of Kashira in the Moscow region.
Due to security threats, temporary restrictions were imposed on Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reported that 15 drones were shot down, while the Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that 130 drones were destroyed overnight.
The incident occurred amid a significant increase in threat levels, which were rated as “red” in the Moscow region.
For context, on the night of December 11, Ukrainian drone forces struck two chemical plants and an oil refinery in Russia.
