More than 390 drones attacked Moscow and the surrounding region overnight — Sobyanin
On the night of July 28, Russia reported a large-scale drone attack on the Moscow region. According to Russian authorities, the strikes damaged an apartment building in Chekhov, private homes in towns across the Moscow region, and, likely, an industrial facility.
Chekhov Mayor Mikhail Sobakin reported that one of the drones struck a high-rise residential building in the Gubernsky neighborhood. The strike damaged the building’s facade and two apartments.
It is noted that the Chekhov-4 military town is located a few kilometers from the damaged building.
Meanwhile, the Telegram channel Exilenova+ reported that a drone may also have struck a pipe at the “Hydrostalkonstruktsiya” plant in Chekhov. There is currently no official confirmation of this information.
Andrei Vorobyov, governor of the Moscow Region, stated that a private home caught fire in the village of Vaulovo as a result of the drone attack. In addition, debris from another drone damaged a summer cottage in the village of Dubna. According to him, there were no casualties.
Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that overnight, Russian air defense forces allegedly shot down 356 drones over 13 regions of the country and the occupied Crimea.
For his part, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that between 8:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m., more than 390 drones were allegedly flying toward the Moscow region. According to him, 81 drones were destroyed as they approached Moscow, and most of the drones were intercepted by air defense forces while still far from the capital.
There is currently no independent confirmation of the Russian authorities’ statements regarding the number of drones or the circumstances of the attack.
As a reminder, on the night of July 28, Moscow and the Moscow region came under a large-scale drone attack. Russian authorities claimed to have shot down dozens of drones, but after the attack, fires were reported near the Wildberries logistics complex and at one of the industrial facilities in the Moscow region.
Earlier, Wildberries removed the search for military goods at the request of “Everything for the Special Military Operation.”
As a reminder, Ukrainian drones struck six Wildberries warehouses in Russia and Crimea.
Estonian intelligence estimated Russia’s losses from the strikes on Wildberries at $2 billion.
