Case sent to court against Russian occupiers who tortured residents of Kupiansk
During the temporary occupation of Kupiansk, a serviceman of the Russian Armed Forces’ 9th company, members of illegal armed formations, and local collaborators tortured civilians and illegally detained them in the captured district police station.
This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, the occupiers used physical violence and psychological pressure to obtain information about the locations of Ukrainian troops and movements of military equipment. So far, over 90 victims have been identified.
During the investigation, police received from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine a list of more than 500 people who were in the temporarily occupied territory of the Kupiansk district in 2022. Work to identify individuals involved in war crimes is ongoing.
Earlier, a court in Kherson region sentenced a 20-year-old Russian soldier to life imprisonment. He served as a guard in a torture facility set up by the occupiers and was involved in multiple war crimes.
