Enemy damages DTEK energy facility in Odesa, tens of thousands of homes left without power
On the night of January 19, Odesa became a target for attacks by Russian drones, which caused significant damage to a DTEK energy facility.
According to information provided by DTEK, 30.8 thousand households were left without electricity. Restoration work on the energy infrastructure is facing significant delays due to the scale of the destruction.
Energy workers have been tasked with urgently restoring power to critical infrastructure facilities.
According to the regional military administration, one of the drones hit a residential building, damaging several apartments and vehicles. Russian attacks on energy facilities in Odesa have become regular — just on January 18, the enemy carried out strikes in the southern part of the region.
These shellings have already led to fires and destruction; during the attacks, medical, educational, and other social infrastructure facilities were affected.
It is expected that the work of rescuers and repair crews will continue for a long time until normal electricity supply is restored. Therefore, the situation in the region requires urgent action to respond to ongoing emergencies and protect critical infrastructure from further attacks.
It should be noted that in Kyiv, consumers receive electricity for about three hours at a time, with outages lasting up to 10 hours, according to DTEK Group on Telegram.
In Kyiv, heat supply has been almost fully restored after a massive Russian strike on the energy infrastructure. Only about 50 buildings out of nearly six thousand affected by the January 9 attack remain without heat. City services are working around the clock to reconnect the rest as quickly as possible.
