President Zelensky explained how the free economic zone in Donbas will work
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky described how the government envisions the launch of a free economic zone in Donbas.
According to him, the idea is to create special tax and investment conditions for the region to encourage businesses to return and invest. Zelensky emphasized that the project is seen as one of the tools for restoring the eastern territories after the war.
The free economic zone is primarily intended to attract both Ukrainian and foreign capital. This includes benefits for enterprises, simplified procedures, and minimizing bureaucracy so that businesses can start operations quickly.
He also noted that the state expects the creation of new jobs and an increase in local community revenues.
Regarding safety, Zelensky acknowledged that investors will not come to a region where the threat of fighting remains, so real progress in establishing peace is a key condition.
The free economic zone model will be adapted to Ukrainian realities while taking international experience into account.
