Zelenskyy announced that up to 140 km² had been liberated during Operation Vivaldi
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that as part of the “Vivaldi” counteroffensive, Ukrainian forces have already liberated between 125 and 140 square kilometers of territory.
According to him, the operation is still ongoing. Zelenskyy also reported an increase in Russian troop casualties over the past two to three months.
The president noted that at the beginning of the year, Russian casualties, according to his estimates, amounted to about 30,000–32,000 per month, and have now reached approximately 42,000. This figure includes both those killed and those seriously wounded.
Zelenskyy added that the Ukrainian military had planned to launch Operation “Vivaldi” a year ago, but at that time, preparations were insufficient. He said the decision to postpone the offensive allowed for better preparation and enabled the current results to be achieved with fewer casualties.
