Ukrainian Armed Forces hold defense of Rodynske in Donetsk region, enemy suffers losses
In the area of the city of Rodynske in the Pokrovsk district of the Donetsk region, Ukrainian forces continue to hold the defense despite numerous attempts by the enemy to spread disinformation.
This was reported by the press center of the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine “Azov.”
Russian propaganda is currently disseminating edited and manipulative materials claiming that the settlement has allegedly been captured, in an effort to create a false picture of the situation on the front line.
As of January 4, 2026, units of the 14th Brigade “Chervona Kalyna,” together with the 20th Brigade “Lubart” and the 132nd Separate Reconnaissance Battalion of the Air Assault Forces, are holding defensive positions within Rodynske and on its approaches.
“Control over key positions is maintained. The enemy is suffering significant losses in manpower and equipment,” Azov emphasized.
Total combat losses of Russian forces since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine — from February 24, 2022, to January 4, 2026 — amount to approximately 1,211,530 personnel, including about 900 over the past day.
As of 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026, 104 combat engagements had taken place along the entire front line, while Russian invaders continued intensive shelling of border regions and positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 46 attacks by Russian occupiers and eliminated more than 200 enemy troops during January 2. Fighting continues in the areas of Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, where Ukrainian units control key positions and destroy enemy equipment.
The situation for occupation force units operating directly within the city of Kupiansk as of early January 2026 is critical.
